Ascension Island is a part of the British Overseas Territory located in the South Atlantic. Before 2013 the flag of the Island was the same as the flag of the United Kingdom. Since then the British flag was placed in the top left corner of an actual flag like in most British Overseas Territories’ flags. On the right half of the flag, there is the coat of arms of Ascension Island with various elements such as turtles, a sailboat, several seabirds, a medieval helmet, and Parsley Fern.
