The flag of Italy represents a vertical triband with a green, a white, and a red band. The flag’s colors are symbolic: red color stands for the Italians’ blood in the Wars of Italian Independence, white color stands for the snow-capped Alps and green color symbolizes the country’s hills and plains. The flag was adopted in 1946.
