Tonga is an insular country situated in Polynesia in the southern Pacific Ocean. It includes 169 islands with 36 being inhabited. The flag of Tonga has a red field charged with a white canton on which there is a red Greek cross symbolizing Christianity. White color stands for purity and red color alludes to the Blood of Christ sacrifice. The flag was adopted in 1875.
