The flag of Iceland adopted in 1944 represents a Nordic cross. The center of a white cross is placed in the middle in relation to the vertical axis and shifted towards the left side of the flag. Inside the white cross, there is a red one whose color symbolizes the fire of Iceland’s volcanoes. The field of the flag is blue and this color stands for the ocean and the sky.
